Trading with the use of 'Alert'

Under 'alert' we can set indicator conditions and these can also be used for trading, kind of automatic trading.... But i can't figure out which indicator, or combination of indicators,will work best, and which settings(crosses, bid, ask,...) should be used. Has someone experience with this kind of trading, and which indicator, and settings, was used?
