Hi,
Any suggestions for learning Elliot Wave?

I've watched a few YouTube's but am open to book suggestions, etc.

I'm thinking of a Udemy course....

A shame there aren't courses around with MotiveWave that are less expensive, Todd Gordon's look overpriced.

Hi Jason
Do you know what criteria MotiveWave considers when differentiating between Wave 1 from Wave A?
for example I have a five wave impulsive but software consider it as wave a , why not wave 1?
thanks

Definitely definitely definitely start from where it all began. Elliot Wave International. Jason shared the link from the MW website but you can also go direct to their site. They have loads of free staff, you can also maybe purchase an online course, or a set of webinars etc (not too expensive) and they'll often through in THE book, Elliot Wave Principle.

Great place to be and start in my mind.

Cheers

Hey my pleasure, no worries.
I sure do have the book...sits right here on my desk below my screen and I always check out things I'm not sure of or to double check.
Love it.

MotiveWave uses the EW Rules and Guidelines from the book Elliott Wave Principle: Key To Market Behavior by A.J. Frost and Robert R. Prechter, so as Nicko mentioned, EWI would be a great place to get more information on EW and why it would be one wave vs another.

Hi @nobaddays

My recommendations is Wavy Tunnel PRO course by Jody Samuels. That is where I learned Elliott Wave Theory and its application. You will not regret.

Best wishes

Hi TradingTron

Yes. Jody's Wavy Tunnel system is working on MotiveWave. In fact, that was the reason I knew this software and bought it.
Also in her training, there is a 90 minutes session where she teaches MotiveWave software and how you can use it with her system.

I hope this helps.

NB: Attached is the Semaphores scanner (settings in Motivewave) which we use to detect market cycles using Awesome Oscillator divergence and Royal Semaphare.

wow, her course cost $1600 for 12 wks. I’m thinking about taking the course. Are most of the courses come pre-recorded?

Her flagship course (Wavy Tunnel PRO) is structured as follows:-
1. Introductory sessions (3 recorded sessions)
2. Elliott Wave Series - 4 Modules (recorded sessions). Followed by 4 live sessions each lasting 90 minutes).
3. Fibonacci Primer - 2 Modules (recorded sessions)
Followed by 1 live sessions each lasting 90 minutes
4. Wavy Tunnel PRO - 8 Modules (recorded sessions) + Trade Plans
Followed by 10 live sessions each lasting 90 minutes
5. Harmonics - 7 Modules (recorded sessions).
Followed by 8 live sessions each lasting 90 minutes
6. Wavy Tunnel Students Trade Review - 8 Live Session (Each student presents own trade setup and outcomes)
Followed by 12 live sessions each lasting 90 minutes
7. Wavy Tunnel PRO Desk
Includes 4 live sessions each lasting 90 minutes.

Additionally, students have access to live trading rooms to see how all concepts are combined together for successful trading. Mentoring and coaching is really cool.

I hope this helps.

Best wishes.

It took me close to 3 years of active learning (5 days a week, 300+ days a year) to learn it. Watching thousands of hours of videos and studying thousands of charts. I took the most difficult path, ie. working with candlestick charts only and doing all wave counting to up to two degrees in "memory"; the easier path would take less, maybe over a year. My own study notes with the most important concepts not covered in books have about 20 pages. I think it's impossible to learn to comfortably use EW within a month or even a few months.

Note that the Elliot Wave Principle book has some important "fallacies," for example they won't consider it a valid contracting diagonal when wave 1 is not the longest or won't allow a flat in a triangle or a diagonal or won't allow a triangle in a flat or won't allow a flat when wave B is not at least 90% (all of these happen).

@tp618

Indeed the path is long especially if no appropriate guidance.

In my training, the emphasis was to:-
1. determine end of trends for both impulse and corrections [using 6 methods]
2. Confirmation for end of trend [using 3 methods]

These 9 methods goes beyond the traditional approach for EW theory learning on identifying EW patterns.

For me,this was helpful.

Wishing you all the best.
