Hi friends,

I´ve tried to setup already 3 different eMail Accounts (googlemail, Outlook, GMX). They all have SMTP available with clear instructions, but none of them worked. For googlemail and outlook I received the error, that my login credentials are wrong and for the GMX adress I received something like this but in other wording.
Does anyone here use the eMail Alert function and can tell me a free eMail provider where this works?

Thanks!

best regards
Chris

Your settings seem (both) correct (I had not seen an @googlemail.com for quite a while ! 😁) . Thanks for that.

I tried on my end with a gmail account too, and it fails as well. Also tried my own email-server, but same story.
This leads me to say that there is something fishy going on. :cautious:

Anyone else seeing this ?

Anyway, I'm afraid your best guess would be to mail the MW-team.
Please report back here, so we can all learn :)

EDIT: I also looked in the MW-logfile (Menu > Help > Log Files) but -apart from a few lines- that did not make me any wiser. I can see it's 'MWUtil' trying to connect to the SMTP-servers, but nothing more.

Thank you for testing from your side, I really appreciate that. I´ve sent an eMail to support and let you know the outcome here

I was able to get Outlook connected and working with the following:

SMTP Server: smtp-mail.outlook.com
SMTP Port: 587

Username: YourEmail@Outlook.com
Password: Follow this link and the instructions to create an App password for your Microsoft account. Use this password, not your account password:

From Email: YourEmail@Outlook.com
To: YourEmail@Outlook.com

Apply

If you click *Send Test Email* now, you will likely get an error still. If that is the case, restart Motivewave and then resend yourself the test email. Restarting the software after you enter all of your information seems to be critical for it to be successful.

Hope this helps some of you! Cheers

Hello, your configuration still work ?
With the same settings and reboot, I get an authentication error. It tells me that I need to be in basic authentication (which is no longer possible with Microsoft).

Thanks !

Hey PCAR,

This recently stopped working for me as well and I too get the basic authentication message. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find a solution.

This same process of using application passwords for login appears to work with Gmail accounts.

SMTP Server: smtp.gmail..com
SMTP Port: 587 (TLS)

Username: YourEmail@gmail.com
Password: Follow this link and the instructions to create an App password for your Gmail account. Use that generated password with the included *spaces*(xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx), not your account password:

https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/185833?hl=en

From Email: YourEmail@gmail.com
To: YourEmail@gmail.com

Apply

Again, if you click *Send Test Email* now, you will likely get an error still. If that is the case, restart Motivewave and then resend yourself the test email. Restarting the software after you enter all of your information seems to be critical for it to be successful.

Cheers!
