I would advise you to start reading from page 33 onwards. You will see the basic structure of a simple Study explained very well there.
Your code is not bad, but needs a few additions

The SDK overview holds all interfaces, classes & functions and explains what they do:

This here gets the close of the latest bar:
https://www.motivewave.com/sdk/javadoc/com/motivewave/platform/sdk/common/DataSeries.html#getClose()

so the second before latest bar would be:

series.getClose(index -1)
