Formatting

MotiveWave provides several options for formatting components. Formatting options available to each component differ depending on their purpose, but the methods are universally the same. The following list identifies the formatting options available (click on an option to see details below):

  • Colors – Text color, line color and fill color.
  • Text – Fonts, font sizes, text attributes (bold, underline, italics) and text alignment.
  • Line Styles & Thickness – Solid, dash, dash combinations and pixel width.
  • Other – Display order, shadows, rounded corners.

Formatting options are available from the Tool Bar, the Context Menu (right click on a component) and the Format menu from the top menu bar. You may change the formatting options for multiple components at the same time by using the multiple select feature (Hold the Shift or Ctrl while clicking on a component). The following example illustrates the options for the Note component (Format menu not shown):

Colors

Colors can be changed by selecting a component and using the color drop downs from the tool bar:  Color context is kept after each color is selected (bar below the icon changes color). This enables you to quickly re-apply the same color by clicking the icon instead of displaying the drop down menu (clicking the small arrow beside the icon).

Text Styles: Bold, Italic and Underline are also available from the Context Menu or from keyboard short cuts: Ctrl BCtrl I and Ctrl U respectively. Similarly, you may change the text alignment (Left, Center, Right justification) from the Context Menu -> Justify. The following screenshot illustrates these features:

Line Styles & Thickness

You can change the line style (dash, solid, etc), thickness and color. Formatting buttons can be found on the tool bar. To change the format of multiple trend lines select them first (hint: hold down on the ‘Shift’ key while left clicking them with the mouse), then use the formatting buttons.
